Meet Karyl
To truly understand Karyl's remarkable journey, we must first rewind two decades to a pivotal moment in her family's life. It was 20 years ago that Karyl's sister, Cindy, became a resident at Bishop Grady Villas. Like many families who entrust their loved ones to Bishop Grady Villas, Karyl's parents faced a profound concern about Cindy's future. They worried about what would become of her once they were no longer around.
From the moment Cindy arrived at Bishop Grady Villas, Karyl, and her family felt an immediate sense of relief. It was clear that Cindy had found a place where she was not just cared for but truly cherished. Over the next decade, Karyl observed the dedicated work of the Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) at the Villas. Their compassion, patience, and genuine acceptance created an environment where both residents and families felt welcomed and valued.
As Bishop Grady Villas expanded and welcomed new residents, this unwavering commitment to care remained constant. Karyl knew Cindy was safe and well looked after, and this sense of security became a cornerstone of her family's peace of mind.
After Cindy's passing in 2017, Bishop Grady Villas held a special place in Karyl's heart. It was no surprise, then, that when Karyl retired in 2018, she chose to channel her energy into volunteering with Magnify. Her first visit to the office was a moment of serendipity; Karyl felt as though she had come home.
Magnify immediately recognized her commitment, and Karyl quickly advanced to several roles, all in support of those we serve. Her commitment and enthusiasm eventually led her to a full-time role as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), where she continues to make an incredible impact today.
