PROGRAMS
The discovery process is designed for individuals with the most significant disabilities to explore and experience both familiar and unfamiliar tasks and settings. By engaging in this process, individuals can uncover their unique strengths and interests.
With our Discovery program, a personalized and enjoyable assessment approach involves spending time in environments that effectively uncover unique talents and passions. This will ultimately assist in identifying a well-suited employment goal for their future.
The process includes home and community visits, informational interviews, job shadowing, and work-based experiences supervised by an employment specialist.
The total process is around four face-to-face visits and research. It involves finding different vocational themes for different needs that identify strengths, barriers, and solutions to those barriers. Based on where the individual is in the job-seeking process, recommendations are then shared with the individual’s Vocational Rehabilitation counselor. The process can also be used to find more business connections in their community. The purpose is to help create a clear path that leads to employment using partnerships and industries that can serve those client choices.
Our Discovery program is funded by Florida’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). If you are not currently a VR client and you would like to participate, start by filling out this form.
